Success factors for regional climate governance in Saxony-Anhalt

"Erfolg Klima Go! - Success factors for regional climate governance in Saxony-Anhalt" is a research project of the Chair of Political Science specialising in Sustainable Development (OvGU) on regional climate governance in the state. The Ministry of Science, Energy, Climate Protection and Environment of Saxony-Anhalt is funding the project, which will run for two years.

The project "Knowledge Transfer And Strengthening Of Capacities In Global Change Context (Central Africa)-(KnowGlobal Project)" is being carried out together with the University of Dschang (Cameroon) and FODER (Forêts et Développement Rural) as partners under the consortium leadership of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. Funding is provided by the Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR-ICRAF).

This research project analyses the sustainability activities of key players in professional football from a political science perspective. The central research objective of the project is to conceptualise the "political potential" of these players and their activities in the field of sustainability policy in a differentiated manner on the basis of fundamental political science theories of power.

LAND - KREIS - GEMEINDE

Logo Land Kreis Gemeinde

The joint project "LAND – KREIS – GEMEINDE. Planning climate protection, focussing on economic efficiency and value creation", funded by the German government's National Climate Initiative (NKI), has been running since November 2018. The aim of the project is to link rural regional development, value creation and sustainability, focussing on the role of rural districts. Rural districts can act as intermediaries between municipalities, regional stakeholders and the state and federal levels and, with regard to climate protection and sustainability, help to promote and enable "climate protection business models", i.e. the increase in local value creation through regional climate protection measures. By means of regional governance, climate protection is to be organised and tested as a successful joint project with added value for rural regions in the German multi-level system.

(De-)Democratisation of Expertise in Environmental and Sustainability Policy

The research project "(De-)Democratisation of Expertise in Environmental and Sustainability Policy" is led and conducted by Prof. Dr Böcher and examines the demands and challenges that scientific expertise in environmental and sustainability policy must meet in order to achieve practical effects. It also looks at the divisions and connections between science, politics and society and the question of who should have influence over sustainability research. The thesis of a "death of expertise" in the age of fake news, lay knowledge through social media and possible solutions such as the "authoritarian environmental state" will be critically examined.
